Description
New digital painting of Skyla, a beluga whale at Marineland, blowing a bubble ring!
My favourite beluga, doing one of my favourite play activities! Skyla loves to create these rings, one day when I was watching her she created six in a row, all on one mouthful of air, and then she chased them, popped them in her mouth, and used the air again to make more! Love that crazy beluga
I had a lot of fun with this one, working on it between study sessions... three exams left to go people! I'm going to go more-than-a-little crazy in the next week
Tried something slightly different with the water webbing, and the bubbles, I think it worked out ok however
Random Beluga Fact
Belugas are (like some other Cetaceans, including dolphins) capable of blowing toroidal bubble rings... they do so by forcing water out of their mouth in a certain way. It is a fascinating behaviour!
Note
Totally painted this because of =all4athena's awesome photo: [link] ... I realised when I saw it that I still haven't got a nice shot of the belugas playing with bubble rings, because they only ever do it when I don't have a camera around! Decided to paint this as compensation
