Description
Had Fall Out Boy's song "Coffee's for Closers" stuck in my head while painting... which explains the title... Ok, so yeah, I like Fall Out Boy's new album. Meh, I never said I had good taste
I actually started this one more than a year ago, intending to make a 'Happy New Years' painting for the start of 2008... which was clearly never finished. Went back to it, and found all kinds of problems with the original sketch which I fixed.
Tried something new, added what I'm going to call "water netting" on the body of the orca, pale lines which indicate water running off the skin. I made them pretty transparent, but I like it. There was also more in the way of small 'splashes' in the air, but took them out, I wanted to to be sleek.
It originally had fireworks and glittery-ness everywhere (for New Years)... but I just wasn't feeling it... so I decided to go in a more sombre direction. I think I'm happy with it.
Referenced from several photos from 's amazing photographs... take a look at her gallery if you haven't already!

The spots on his eyepatch really gave it away as Tili and not Keiko or another animal.
