Digital Painting of JB, a young beluga whale at Marineland, Canada. JB must be my favourite baby beluga ever, she is so full of personality (like her crazy mother Jubilee), and I've spent hours playing with her... she is just the best!
_{In case you are wondering, the colour is accurate, baby belugas are dark grey/brown... and the scars on the side are also accurate to the particular whale.}

I normally don't take on projects with quite this much detail... because I'm essentially a lazy person, and tend to lose interest in a project that takes too long... but decided that it was time to dive in and give it a go.
This took FOREVER!!!
Did a lot of experimentation with painting the skin... tried some new things... particularly in the shine on the top of her head... it is something which seems so simple in photographs, but is nearly impossible to replicate... there is something so beautiful about the way that the world reflects on their little faces
I decided to keep the water in the background simple, so as not to detract from the beluga, hope it looks ok.
Mostly, I did this painting just to see if I could...


_{As a side note... I've got one exam left to go, sadly it is a huge one, and to top it off, I'm really, really sick right now... feel absolutely horrible, and am on antibiotics for a killer sinus infection... just what I need}
