Labyrinth Guide - Bog Fly by Chaotica-I Labyrinth Guide - Bog Fly by Chaotica-I
Page for my "Practical Visitor's Guide to the Labyrinth"
Painted in Photoshop CS5, using the film as reference.
About 5 hours of work.
The Labyrinth and it's Characters are Jim Henson
This guide however belongs to me!!!

Sorry about the copious watermarks. They aren't going anywhere. Don't ask. I am SO proud of this project so far, and would hate to see any part of this turn up somewhere else.

Please note that I don't have time to say "thank you" for every favourite, but I appreciate them all nonetheless! Thank you all for your support!!!

With all the computer drama, most of the week was a write-off in terms of getting painting done. Almost all of this was painted on CS4... and everything took longer because my workflow was interrupted, and everytime I resized something, or made a significant edit, it took FOREVER to load. Thankfully, the laptop is back up and running (through what I can only describe as Herculean efforts from my awesome computer guy), and I can get back to work. Unfortunately however, the next four weeks are going to be ridiculously busy, and even more stressful... so the odds of me getting much artwork done are pretty slim. :sigh:

Anyways... as for the fly... this little creature featured in the film during the Bog of Eternal stench scene. It flitters across the screen in the course of a second or so. Even on the bluray version of the film the details are sketchy at best, so I took some liberties. I think the original bog fly only had two legs, but meh. This is my version. There was no information on it whatsoever, so everything that is there is a figment of my imagination ;P

Brilliant! Although I think I noticed a typo toward the bottom, 'itching power(powder?) on a mosquito bite...'
Would you mind if I use your work as reference for my Laby fan comic?

Thanks! And thank you for pointing that out! Can't believe I missed it! Just fixed it :)
What do you mean by reference in this case?

With so much going on in these pages, I totally understand how typos can happen. The font you're using is pretty awesome, by the way.

It seems like you've got a lot of original ideas where there were gaps in movie info, and you've got some details I'd love to draw into my own comic. Stuff like the plant banner from the forest two-page spread, or the excellent view of the insects here. If characters talk about how this or that works, you're an easy resource to draw the facts from.

I'm actually shocked that there haven't been more typos! :XD:

That sounds alright with me, although I'd very much appreciate it if you could put a link to my Labyrinth Guide in your artist comments whenever you reference it (if you post it off dA, I'd appreciate it if you could still post the link, I want the guide to reach as broad an audience as possible!). So yes, provided that you link back, feel free to reference in the manner you indicated :)

You're just that good. ;)

I would definitely put a link wherever I post it, which will probably be on DA but possibly elsewhere too. I'm all for directing people to come see your awesome work!
